What do I need to start a saltwater tank?

I am wanting to turn my 75 gallon freshwater tank to saltwater. I do not want coral just fish. I have a fluval 405 on it now and want to use it for the saltwater tank. I have a powerhead and a heater. What else would I need? Will my filter work and what media would I have to change it to?

you will need to build a sump for filtration and have alot more power heads the more water flow the better, you will need to buy a reef octopus overflow box to be able to use the sumps,a sump is another fish tank underneath the tank, you will have to put sections in the sump so water can filtrate properly and put live rock and sand in there too,you will have to also put a light on the sump with a timer,so as when the light on your tank goes off your sump light will come on during the night, you will need a skimmer one that does twice to three times as much water as what you have in the tank, power heads should pump at least 1000 to 1500 litres per hour depending on size of tank.you will need to have alot of water flow, the more the better, you will need to buy base rock to put in the tank, its cheaper, then you buy a couple of bits of live rock to seed the rest of the rocks, you will need to decide wheather to make the salt water yourself or buy salt water from aquarium.and you will need test kits to test water, you have to do regular water changes every week, you should have either a halogen light or flouresent light and you should have a blue flouresent light as well, helps for rocks and fish and corels.have them on timers.i must warn you it is expensive to do but once set up properly, you will work out how to save yourself money.also you must put sand in the bottom of tank, corel sand is best.after you do all that then go get your fish, and enjoy,
