Are these fish ok in a 125 gallon aquarium?
-2 Oscars
-1 Gold Severum
-4-6 Silver Dollars
Or:
-1 Oscar
-2 Severums
-6 Silved Dollars?
I will have some good filtration in the tank (1 Fluval Fx5 and some other large filter) so I don’t think filtration would be an issue, but with the 2 Oscars, the tank will obviously be more aggressive (compared to the 2 Severums) but I love Oscars SO much! Ahh! Let me know what you think!
The second option would really be better. Two oscars is correctly, pushing it. The one inch per gallon is not accurate at all. Would you have a ten inch oscar in a ten gallon tank? I didn’t think so. The severums are relatively peaceful and grow to about eight inches, the oscar up to fourteen and poops up a mudslide. The silver dollars would make excellent dithers to keep the severums comfortable and the oscar’s temper low. Try this
First cycle the tank
2. Add silver dollars
3. Add both severums at the same time
4. Add the oscar at a small size, less than five inches. Be sure severums are larger.
5. Can’t have any live plants. oscars will dig e’m and silver dollars will eat e’m.
