When can I realease my betta female fish into the males tank?
Currently I have a small tank with the female fighting fish in it, inside a bigger tank that has the male fighting fish. This is only very recent – and it is so the male and female fish can get used to eachother before I let the female fish out, so that they can breed. I’ve heard I should keep them this way for two weeks, then let her out, but I’ve also heard I need to wait for the male to make a bubble nest and for the female to have eggs before I can let her out. So I am a little confused. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Also, one more thing. My female betta is white – I also heard it is hard to see vertical lines on white female betta’s (when they have eggs) so how can I tell when she has eggs?
Another question, sorry…
How long does it usually take before the male makes the bubble nest once the two genders are together in a tank (in seperate parts)
Why is it that so many people who know nothing about Betta breeding insist on trying to?
If you don’t know what you are doing, then don’t do it. If Bettas aren’t properly conditioned they will very likely try to kill each other.
If you did manage to get a successful spawning, what will you do with all the fry? Fish stores won’t take them, they have contracts with their own suppliers. All the males (possibly dozens) must be housed in separate tanks. Do you have the space and money for dozens of separate tanks? Then what? Do you want to spend the next 5 years or so taking care of all of them till they die of old age?
Just enjoy your fish, and leave breeding to the professionals.
Betta Fish Online Where Can I find Betta Fish Online? (Other than Aquabid)?
I’m looking for a website (beside aqua bid) that sells Betta’s that rather need adopted or just sells them. I’d love to get a butterfly colored Betta if I could find one! I have a lonely 10 gallon tank with no Betta in it to call home.
1. Craigslist
2. E-bay
3. Just search up “Betta Breeders” in your area

Betta Fish Care Water Changes Betta Fish Care please answer?
Last night I got a Betta Fish and he seems to be doing fine but I am wondering if I am doing everything okay. He lives in a 3 gallon tank with neon rocks on the bottom and two castles in the corners that he goes into (they have holes in them for fish and he swims in and out and stayed in the back of one last night and came out when I fed him, as I type this he is swimming around), and I don’t have a heater but the water is 75 degrees F and I plan on cleaning the tank/rocks/castles twice a week, I use tap water conditioner by the way. The food says to feed him 2 – 4 pellets twice a day so I fed him 4 in the morning and 2 at night to be even. Am I doing everything okay? Should I change anything or purchase new stuff?

I got my betta 2 nights ago! Your doing great. Also don’t feed him freeze dried worms yet, because once he eats those, he won’t want the pellets any more, so feed him pellets for a long time, “raise him” on the pellets, then you can give the worms as a treat.
Does your tank have a filter? If so, buy a small gravel vacuum and remove half of the water every week, that’s what I’m going to do because my mom would kill me if the tank went dirty! Just clean everything once a week and your tank will be okay, but clean thoroughly.
You have a good feeding routine, just make sure he eats it all, and maybe cut it down to 4 or 5 pellets.
Also, for now what you have is good, and a lot of people are going to tell you that you need a five gallon tank filtered and heated. But that can wait for a few months. Get it when you are ready.
Good Luck and happy Betta- ing
