Betta Fish Death does anybody know a humane way to put a betta fish out of its misery?
I have a betta that began acting strangely about two weeks ago. It seems he has had some type of neurological damage. Possibly by hitting his head on the side of the bowl. Anyway, he can’t seem to swim anymore so he just floats in the bottom of the bowl. He is still breathing but he is starving to death and that seems like a long cruel death. Can anybody give any ways to put him to sleep in a non-painful way? I know this probably seems like a stupid question to most but I’m a creature lover. Thanks for the help.
Do not freeze your fish. Your fish knows it is freezing to death.
DO not use clove oil, if that were the case just take him out of the water since all clove oil does is suffocate them
The only humane way to euthanize a fish is to take 1 part vodka to 2 parts water. Place your fish into the mixture. He will be stone cold drunk at the first breath and dead by the third.

I’d suggest you add another school of Tetras, as in this large of a tank you can have a large school, which just looks amazing.
Other Discus-compatable fish you might consider: A pair of Gouramis, (so pretty!) A school of Rainbowfish, (6 minimum,) Danios, or some Barbs, (I love the Cherry Barbs, but they seem to work best in a group with only one male,)
All of these fish do well in a well planted aquarium.
