Do Sailfin Mollies usually eat a lot ?

I have a female betta and a Sailfin Molly in my tank. Whenever I feed the fish, my Sailfin will eat every single piece of food I drop in before my female betta even gets a chance to. Is this normal? My sailfin also has ick, would that affect its eating habits like this?

First of all, the betta may not like flakes. Betta’s can be picky eaters and even if there was food left he might not eat it anyway. If you want to add food that the Molly will leave and the betta can enjoy, try: Blood worms, Shrimps, Insects, Plant leaves, Vegetables, Fruits, Flies or Hamburger meat (cooked). The molly will most likely not eat these items!
Ick will not usually effect eating habits, but if it does it will usually make fish barely eat anything at all. not eat more.
But mostly all fish will eat and eat and eat. Fish usually dont stop when they get full they will keep eating. You are meant to feed them a pinch or as much as they can consume in 3 minutes. Fish are not meant to know when to stop eating (they never get full). So, if you are over feeding, get rid of all the food left over and change the water as alot of decomposing food can make the water really bad and your fish can get stress and diseases. (which is probably how they got Ick)
Hope this helps!
