Hydor Mini Heater I put a heater in my betta’s tank and now he is lethargic?
I just bought a Hydor mini heater for my betta’s 1 gallon tank. I also have a thermometer attached to the side. The reading says the temperature is at 78C, but he is acting very lethargic. He was not this lethargic before I put the heater in. Should I take it out? Is this just him getting used to the new temperature or what?
His tank was at 72 degrees before, so I added it and turned it on. It does not have a control for temperature–it just raises the temperature by a few degrees regardless. And I’m pretty sure the thermometer is working because I saw it rise from 72 to 74 to 78 gradually. It also got up kindof high at one point when I had his light on too, so maybe that shocked him.
Dont take it out. Did you adjust it slowly? Or did you just drop it in an turn it to 78. If you did the later, he is just a little angry that you adjusted the temperature so quickly (one of the problems with your very small tank). He would have probably prefered you change it 2-3 degrees at a time.
Ugh. Anyway, ignore the idiot below me. He may just be getting used to it. I assure you the water they come from is between 79-82 degrees(ish), and unless your house is consistently 84, you need a heater. I have a betta in a 10 gallon tank at 81 degrees and he hasn’t stopped swimming up and down the walls for 4 years. I mean goldfish and a placo(lol)? Really

Bettas Fish Can you use TetraAqua water conditioner on bettas fish tanks?
I got the “TetraAqua AquaSafe” water conditioner for my goldfish and it works fine! But I got two bettas and I want to know if I could use the tetra conditioner in the bettas water? Or does it HAVE to be a special water conditioner for the bettas?
Yes, any water fresh water conditioner will work for any fresh water fish.
Products like this that are marketed only for one kind of fish tend to be a rip-off!
