Plants Betta Fish Eat
why wont my betta fish eat?

I keep his tank warm with a tank heater. He’s clean, he has a nice size tank with a castle and a plant. He swims around all day, he’s very lively, but he doesn’t eat! I’ve tried flakes, pellets and freeze dried worms. He won’t eat anything! I’ve had him for a little over a week, and I’ve yet to see him eat.

Like, I said, I know i’m doing everything right with him, and he is very happy, but he just doesn’t eat.
TO THOSE THINKING HE EATS WHEN I’M NOT AROUND : He doesn’t. Because I count out the pellets / worms and they are all there when I come back.

Thanks for some tips. I will try.

nice size tank is pretty vague … some bettas can go a week without eating when adjusting to a new environment … in my experience bettas eat pellets and frozen thawed bloodworms … in 20 years i have never witnessed any fish of mine eat freeze-dried anything … people buy freeze-dried for the convenience but it is like giving the fish tiny pieces of cardboard … get some frozen bloodworms and offer those … but i would suspect that the fish has been eating you just have not seen him do so … but lose the flakes and freeze-dried and make sure the pellets are a good quality …
