Live Betta Fish Sales
Live Betta Fish Sales
Can Betta fish live in a 1/2 gallon tank? I bought my first fish and tank today
?
The sales associate said they are easy to care for and that what I bought would be fine, but would like to get others opinions. I bought treatment for the tap water, too. Also, I’m not home much so there will be days (for the most part) that my fish will be in the dark for about 12hrs a day. Will he be okay? Please don’t reply with rude comments. I just need ideas/opinions to keep my new fish happy. If I can keep this fish alive for a few months I’m considering buying a bigger tank and adding small electric colored glow fish. Would this work? And what size tank? Thank you!
Nothing can live in a 1/2 gallon. Betta’s need at least 3-5 gallons with a heater. A 1/2 gallon not not be heated. Please take that little thing back. It will not even live a few months in such small gallons without a heater.
If you are actually really worried about the poor fish being bored, you would upgrade to a 5-10 gallon to give it plenty of room to swim. They also like live/silk plants and assorted ornaments to keep them busy.
