Lethargic Betta Fish
Lethargic Betta Fish
What disease does my betta fish have?

My betta is normally a blue color. Today I noticed that most of his body is a rust color and his stomach is kind of bloated. His scales are also standing up (you can notice it by looking at him from above). His gills are inflamed (they look red on the inside). He is lethargic and not very active anymore. Is there anything I can do? I am worried about him and don’t really know what to do.

this is called dropsy or pine cone disease. (because the scales stick out like a pinecone)

sadly, there is debate wether there is a cure for this. and nearly all victims for this disease don’t make it…

the fish that do make it will be very bloated with the ratained liquid.

keep your fish quiet, and in a dark environment. raise the temperature a little, add a few grains of aquarium salt and sadly thats all you can do for him

hope he’s ok =)
