Tank mates for betta fish?

I got my betta fish a few days ago and he’s settling in alright. I have him in a 20L tank right now. I was wondering if there were any good fish that would go well with him? I looked on the net quite a bit and there doesn’t seem to be any cut and dry species that will definitely go well with a betta.

I’m not particularly interested in snails. I’m not sure about ghost shrimps either. Are they easy to look after? Will they attack my betta or will my betta attack it? I’m also concerned about shrimps and jumping, and what food will they need? I’m not big on live or frozen foods.

I also saw in some places that neon tetras can go with bettas, but bettas might eat it. I was thinking about putting tetras in before I came across that fact. And I heard fancy-tailed guppies are a no-no, but what about plain-tailed ones?

Thanks for your help, guys. :]

To be honest, in a 20 litre tank, he is better just on his own.
It is possible that many community fish will be ok with him, there just isn’t the room in that size tank.
