Green Spotted Puffer, Gone Smokey Grey.?
I have 2 Green Spotted Pufferfish in an ‘all natural’ 45 litre tank. They are only about 2 1/2 – 3 inches long and have ‘appeared’ to be very happy until today. They have the most natural habitat that is feasibly possible in captivity; incorporating bogwood, rock caves, plants and a mixture of sand, pebbles and stone chipping for the bottom of their home. I have been feeding them mussels and cockles, plus the occasional snail or two! Their water is brackish, running at 29 degrees; the Ph is slightly alkaline 8.0; the Nitrite and Nitrate are at ‘a fraction of a trace’ not even enough to classify a reading. There are 2 filters; a Power bio 380 and a Fluval 3 plus. The Fluval I also use to create a current effect for them to play in. They also have a bubble tube running along the opposite side of the tank to the filters. They are behaving perfectly normal: playing in the bubbles, feeding and coming to say hello, but I am very worried because today they have gone dark grey. Any Ideas?
At 29 degrees you do mean C. I assume. Feed them more snails they should have a readily available supply this keeps their teeth filed so they can eat. Something is going on since your water seems good. I really cannot begin to tell you without seeing for myself.
