Will sand clog an aquarium filter?
I have a fluval 3+ in my 15 gallon tank, which is slightly over-powered for the tank size but I was given it for free as I couldn’t afford my own and on a low setting in works just fine and all my water parameters are perfect.
I was thinking of changing to sand instead of gravel though as I think this would be more attractive and easier to clean with a gravel cleaner. Basically all I am wondering is, will the sand get clogged in the filter a lot?
It can do, but not necessarily. Just have it near the top of the tank, don’t stir up the sand too much when you change the water and clean the filter in removed tank water once a week.
