Which coldwater fish for 25 litre/5 gallon tank?
I have a Fluval Edge tank (25 litres/5 gallons) but don’t really want to get a heater for it. Can anyone recommend some fish for it – I don’t want to be cruel and over-populate. I live in London and would be buying fish at Pets at Home. Thanks.
There are two things to remember when stocking any aquarium:
1) Choose a species of fish that will stay small and be comfortable in a small environment.
2) Don’t overstock! Resist the temptation to put too many fish in the tank. Five or six small species should be able to coexist happily in most cases.
Two or three comet goldfish would be ok as they will have enough room to move. That might not seem like much but when you take their biological load into consideration, they are messy.
White Cloud Mountain Minnows can survive but not thrive in cold water. A few of these could do but it seems a bit cruel to set these up in cold water. Not recommended.
