Dirty water in fish tank?
Hey, I have a Fluval 2 plus in my tank and I replaced the pads just a week ago and put in a carbon filter pad. I took out 50% of the water in the tank too. The water in the tank is already quite cloudy when the light is on. The venturi effect on the pump has also stopped (Adding the bubbles to the water).
At the moment I have a fine sand in the tank, would this have any effect on the water condidtions?
Never ever replace all your filter media at once. Most of your good bacteria lives in there and when you change it you’re throwing away the bacteria the tank needs. A 50% water change is fine if you need to do it.
Your tank is experiencing a mini cycle now to rebuild the bacteria.
