Female Betta Fish Eggs
My Female betta fish’s male partner has died today and shes full of eggs?

My Female betta fish’s male partner has died today and i feel like she is full of eggs bc she has gotten bigger on a small regular controled diet. the male already made a bubble nest for her and flirts and flaunts his stuff whenever he sees her. but he has died and she is left alone with a belly full of eggs her belly stretched out and she has those horizontal lines on her side. what is best for her will her eggs just come out themselves or should i buy a new male?

You can certainly buy a new male and try to breed her, but in my experience that belly full of eggs will be back a month or so after she’s bred. It’s really quite remarkable how fast she makes more. Horizontal lines mean she’s either a bit freaked out, or just very passive, it kind of depends on the temperament of your girl.

Breeding bettas is kind of challenging, but totally worth it if you’re willing to put in the time, and have space for the dozens of babies you’ll likely end up with. Just do your homework, and make sure you’ve got the right conditions. They probably won’t go for it in the middle of a community tank.

That said, if it looks like too much trouble, as long as she doesn’t have an intestinal blockage instead of eggs, she’s probably not in any discomfort.
