Female Betta Fish Bubbles
Female Betta Fish Bubbles

Do Betta fish normally do this, or am I missing something?
Hi, my female betta fish, Bubbles sometimes turns a foggy, faded color, she’s normally white, with a red head and fins. I’ve had her for about 4-6 months now, and don’t know whats happening to her! Also, is it safe to buy a male, and put him in the 3 gallon tank with Bubbles?
No, do not put a male in with bubbles! Your Cambodian female will be chased to death with a male in such a small tank. The tank is perfect for her, but unless your going to breed the bettas, do not get a male and put them togehter. Her fading out can be a symptom of stress. if the water gets too cool, she will be unhappy. bettas need temps. around 78-80, and a steady temp at that. They like plants to swim around and hide under. Also, what are you feeding her? They need a varied diet. I feed Hikari gold pellets, bloodworms and daphnia, which is a natural laxative. i use that since I feed bloodworms twice a week. It helps digestion. I also feed frozen brine shrimp as a treat once a week or so.
How often do you do partial water changes? In such a small tank, you need to changes 25-40% of the water every week. have treated/aged water on hand for these changes.
Here is a site by a breeder I have purchased from. Read her articles on keeping and caring for bettas. They will help answer other questions you might have.
