Would a male betta fish kill a female betta fish?
If I tried to breed a male & female betta fish together, could the male kill the female in the process?
Yes, it happens often. The male blows spit bubbles to signify he is ready to breed, and you can put a female betta fish with him. He squeezes the eggs out of her which sometimes kills her, and then the eggs go into the spit bubbles in order to have offspring.
It’s pretty nasty.
