Usually when you purchase discus you purchase a pair right away because then you know they are male/female. Any pet store that I have purchased my discus they have always come in a pair. I have two five year old Turqoise Snakeskin Discus. One sign that they are of opposite sex is when they start really picking on each other. Discus pretty much leave other species alone that you may also have in your tank but discus are known to be aggressive towards each other. Sometimes if you add another pair they will be less aggressive. Just keep an eye on the two you have and notice their behavior towards each other. I think you have a pair but it’s really hard to tell by looking at them. I believe that their behavior is the key. Good Luck with your discus..they are awesome fish with awesome personalities. They love to be talked to and will eventually let you hand feed them.
