Discus Fish Babies
Why does my Discus fish ate all of her babies after they’re hatched?

Discus are parental, and normally care for their young. Was this her first brood? The two most common reasons for this (from what I’ve heard, as I’ve never actually tried to breed discus) are inexperience, and the parents having been separated from their parents too early.

Discus are mucous feeders, that secrete a slime coat that the fry feed off of. However, many mass commercial breeders will separate the juveniles too soon, and this can sometimes cause them to lose this behavior when they try to breed, as well.
