Question About Fish For a 60 Gallon Fresh Water Aquarium (Detials Inside)?
Would 4 Angel Fish, 8 Rummy Nose Tetras, 8 Silver Tip Tetras, 6 Blue Platys, 1 Rubber Pleco, and 2 Discus work in a 60 Gallon Aquarium? I might replace the silver tip tetras with lemon tetras.
The discus are only a possibility but if I don’t get the discus would everything work?
Also please give me some info about the fish I want. I have researched tons but I just want some more info.
OTHER DETAILS:
Also I am looking at a large canister filter for it and I do weekly water changes on my other tank and I will be with this one also, so if it is a little over stocked water quality shouldn’t be a problem.
I am pretty experienced with fresh water fish.
I have read lots of articles and have researched about all the fish I want and will be researching plenty more until I get the aquarium.
Discus and Angelfish … “advanced hobbyist” only mix, because of the POSSIBLE interaction between the species (they are natural competitors in nature),
Realistically, you can have either.Discus commonly available are adapted to a wider water chemistry … you check with the dealer/breeder to see what conditions they were reared under. You also never get less than 3 Discus (to spread aggression .. they are cichlids).
They can be found requiring anything from 5.0 -7.2 pH and temps 80F-90F …… all by who bred them. They are water quality sensitive regardless of where you get them.
If going Angelfish,I see nothing wrong with the other stocking occupants.
Smaller Tetra species can, however,”disappear” in the presence of Angelfish.
