Crowntail Betta Fish Water Temperature
Crowntail Betta Fish Water Temperature

Betta Fish behvoir question…?
Please answer if you know about betta fish behavoir-
1) I have a betta crowntail male and it is not extremely active, it will dart around every so often, and does react when one brings their hand close to the tank, however generally it stays in one place and doesn’t move around (no, it is not lying on the bottom of the tank). Is it odd that the fish is not in constant motion?
2) The temperature should be 78-80 degrees F, right? Everytime I change the water, I add a certain amount of water conditioner. However, if I just dump out a little bit of water and add some warmer water, do I need to add a little more water conditioner as well?
3) I often hear not to do something to a betta fish because it will become “stressed.” What exactly does this mean and how is it bad for the fish to be “stressed.”
4) Is putting a hand mirror in the tank for a couple seconds once a day a good idea or not?
1. bettas can be pretty active, however some are lazy. if you have a tank under 2.5gallons or no plants or anything in it then think about it, what is he supposed to do? however, he may just be resting, as long as he swims around once in a while I’m sure he’s fine.
2. yes, 78°F-82°F is a good temp range! when you only change a little you should add conditioner to the water you’re adding BEFORE you add it.
3. depending on what you’re talking about, however they don’t really get stressed over anything that other fish don’t.
4. put the mirror NEXT to the tank, not in it. and yes, this is fine for 15-20mins a day. it’s like exercise and can make his colors more vibrant.
