Betta Fish Water Ph
Betta Fish Water Ph

I have a betta fish. And i just put him in a new bowl with tap water. Is this safe?
I tested the ph and put drops in to make chlorine go away. Helppp. Is it safe. He keeps swimming unusually
Betta’s need 3-5 gallons and they require a heater. They are tropical fish and need a stable temperature of 76-82 degrees. They are very sensitive to temperature change. More than a 3 degree temperature change can actually put them in shock and kill them overtime. In a bowl the room temperature likely changes 6+ degrees in a day. For that reason Betta’s in Bowls live 1-2 years, maybe 3. In proper gallons with a heater they live 5-6 years, even up to 10 has commonly reported.
Fish should never have ALL their water emptied out. Only a 25% water change every 7 days in proper gallons. Did you leave any old water in the bowl? Fish relies on that bacteria to live. I sure hope you did not rinse/wash the rocks. You can be sure your Betta is stressed now. It would be best to add ‘stress zyme’ in hopes to relax him.
Please upgrade to a 3-5 gallon as soon as you can.
