Betta Fish Sick Symptoms
What is wrong with my lethargic Betta fish and how can I help him?
Newton used to be the pet fish in the Physics lab at my school, but they gave him to me. They used to over-feed him and he had very poor conditions, but when I brought him home, I put him in a new, clean tank and gave him a healthier diet.
He was like this at the school: laying on the bottom of the tank and not moving, sometimes swimming sideways, having difficulty getting to the surface for food, and essentially looking dead most of the time. Newton’s about a year and a half old and he’s been showing these symptoms since about September. He’s very hardy.
At first, I thought he was cold, so I got a heater to keep his tank at about 80deg.F, but that only perked him up for a day or so and now, he’s back to being sickly.
Is he depressed and should I get him a tank mate or is he sick and should I find some medicine?

My thai fighter was the same. I baught him a heater and small filter. He started to look good but then after a few days he was really stressed and pacing up and down his tank really slowly. So i baught a big apple sanil and he follows it as if its his best friend. I would aslo recomend buyin stress coat
