Betta Fish Rot
My Betta fish Has tail rot and,,,,,?

i would like to know what kind of salt to put in to help and how much.. see my problem is my car is at the shop so im kinda stranded here and im afarid my fish has rot.. my friend when i called and discribed it said it was… plz help fast!!

Salt doesn’t cure fin rot. Generally fin rot is caused by poor water conditions. Most likely due to lack of weekly bowl/tank cleanings, and/or over feeding. In general most cases of fin rot clear up if you keep the betta in clean water. In cases where this doesn’t clean up the fin rot a broad spectrum antibotic is called for. Generally I recommend cleaning the bowl/tank and adding melafix/bettafix.

Salt is not harmful, and may help prevent a number of conditions. 1 teaspoon per 2.5 gallons is generally called for. Table salt works fine.
