my dream aquarium: just wanted to see if this is possible?
my dream aquarium is to get around a 500 gallon tank and just fill it with female betta fish rescued from pet stores.
would this work? if yeah how many could it fit?

Technically yes, but before you go “rescuing” all those betta, think a bit further..
What are the shops going to do after you buy the 200 betta?
Call their wholesaler and get in another 200 betta into the exact same situation.
So what have you really achieved? Every fish you have rescued has been replaced, and you have encouraged the very practice that you dislike.
If you want to actually rescue something, set up your big tank for some poor monster fish that have outgrown peoples tanks, Pacu, Oscars, plecos etc.
