how do you breed betta fish?
hi i was wondering how to breed betta fish! i have a beautiful male that i really want to breed!
so i would like to know everything there is to know on breeding bettas!
also i would like to know how to raise the young!
also what do you feed the fry?
I know a bit as I bred a batch myself once. WAAAY too many babies and separate little tanks for my mom’s liking. Maybe I’ll try it again now that I have my own house and the room for it.
The male and the female will take car of the mating. When she is ready to “lay” the eggs, he will squeeze them out of her and take them to the bubble nest he has made. The female then needs to be removed as she will try to eat the eggs. Until they hatch, he will swim underneath it to catch the ones that fall off of the sticky bubbles and eat the ones that die. Once the fry hatch, the male needs to be removed too.
That is the gist of it, but it was years ago that I did it and I can’t even remember what I fed the fry. I got some healthy bettas out of it though! Try looking it up. A few years ago, there was a great site with EVERYTHING you needed to know about breeding bettas. I went off of that site and was successful.
