Betta Fish Plant Vase
Betta Fish Plant Vase

I just got a Betta Fish as a gift and…?
I’m unsure of how to take care of him! He’s really pretty, with purple and blue fins and looks pretty active in his little cup and responds when I move my finger around. I also got a small vase and pebbles with the fish, but I think it’s too small for him. I’m going to Petsmart tomorrow to get some supplies for this little guy. Will he be okay until tomorrow morning in the cup? This is what I’m planning to get him:
A tank of some sort, big enough for him
Water Conditioner
Betta Flakes
Silk plant
More pebbles
A net
Do I need a filter and a heater and everything?
Tell me if I missed anything (:
Also, there’s some things floating around with the fish in the cup, they’re off-white and flaky looking, is this poop?
I’m sorry, I don’t know much about fish but since my friend gave it to me for my birthday I’m gonna try to take care of him the best I can (:
Picture (:
1. get a 2.5 to 5 gallon tank.
2. They do need a filter. There is a common myth that they do not.
3. They need a heater. They are tropical fish (around 76 to 80 degrees F). There is another common myth that they do not need a heater.
The rest sounds good as far as I can think of. He should be fine in the cup for the night. Something you will want to read up on is cycling a tank. It is good to have a tank up and running for awhile before adding fish. Also, make sure you change around 25% of the tanks water weekly. It is a VERY easy task! So, if you have a 5 gallon tank, take only around 1 gallon. A good site for doinbg research is: fishlore.com Hope I helped!
