Betta Fish Plant Bowls
Betta Fish Plant Bowls

Plants for betta fish?
I was wondering if I could put a real plant in the fish bowl for my new betta fish. I heard that plants are bad because they suck the oxygen out of the water. Is that true?
And if I can put a plant in. What kind should I get and where should I put it?
no, plants are good for fish… they like to nibble on them, and they PRODUCE oxygen in the water.
your betta would love a real plant i’m sure, but you have to have enough room for him and the plant… typically at least 2 gallons for the betta, and however much your plant requires. those little betta bowls are not suitable for a betta, no matter how hard you hope for it to be.
be careful that you get soft plants, nothing with hard edges or anything that can snag your betta’s fragile fins. fake plants too, need to be soft.
also, it is a good idea to get a filtration system for the tank to keep both fish and plant healthy.
your betta, by the way, does not get air from the water, it actually breathes from the surface.
good luck!!! have fun with fishie!!
My new betta fish lulu RIP
