Betta Fish Ph Levels

new betta fish is bored/ stressed?

Hey guys i got a male betta yesterday. He is currently living in a 3 gallon tank with some gravel and a thermometer. Ill try to add some more decor later. When I first got him he seemed happy, swimming around and inspecting the tank (esp the thermometer). Today though he seems a little bored. His water temp is at 80 degrees, and i checked water pH levels and they seem good. He eats well and perks up when i approach the tank but doesn’t seem interested in anything else. I tried holding up a mirror to the tank and got no response. Is he stressed or sick?

Get him a sponge filter for some circulation. Feed him some freeze dried bloodworms. Or get a frozen pea cut it up and feed him that.

He’ll warm up a bit with more excerise from the cirulation and variety.

PS, Most bettas aren’t too awfully active anyways:)

Put in a drop of stress coat as well

EDIT: also, Johnie is wrong. Bettas only fight other male bettas or fish that may look simular, Though in a 3 gallon nothnig else should be added. Plus they DO enjoy large spaces, and decorations as long as they don’t overcrowd the tank. My betta does wonderful in my 40 gallon community tank. :)
