if i have 2 male betta fish (they are seperated) can i put an algae eater in there with them to clean the tank?
What size of divided tank do you have? Is your water heated to a consistant 78F – 80F? This is required for both bettas and otos as both are tropical fish. If you are hoping to use the otos to keep algae out of your tank, forget it. YOU are the best algae cleaner. Make sure your tank is not getting direct sunlight and that you have live plants to outcompete the algae for food. You also need to keep your nitrAte level at 20ppm or less. Otos will starve to death if you plan to only let them eat algae. You will need to feed the otos algae wafers or spirulina cubes. Also, you can only have otos if your bettas are in 5 gallons or more and the water is kept at a consistent tropical temperature.
