What kind of lighting will be safe for a betta fish?
Would it be ok to place it next to a lamp for the warmth of the light or will it harm the betta? My betta has a castle decoration in its bowl and he has somewhere to hide from the light, but I still wanted to make sure.
It wont harm your betta but once you turn off that light at night, the temperature of the water will drop and it’s not good for their water temp to fluctuate more than 1-2 degrees at most during the day. It stresses them out and they get sick.
If you’re planning on leaving it on, It’s also not recommended to have a light on 24 hours a day. They need a day/night cycle to rest.
edit: And bettas DO need warm water. They are tropical fish. Your fish will be sooooo much happier in temps in the high 70′s/low 80′s.
