Whats the best fish to keep as a pet?
Whats the best fish to keep as a pet and i would only like to take care for 1-3 fish. My sister has a pretty betta fish (fighting fish) and i want one (though i hav to keep in a different tank or else they fight) but tell me all the good species of fishes i should get. Im bored of goldfish because goldfish are borin and fighting fish are awesome! Also im not gonna hav a massive tank im gonna buy a small one so what fish to you recommend me thats pretty, easy to take care of, not boring,small
It all depends on how “small” this this small tank is. For a Betta to be kept with any kind of fish the tank needs to be 10-15 US gallons, filtered, cycled and heated, MINIMUM. Fish like Guppies (which a Betta would be likely to kill, they can look like other Bettas) are quite fragile fish these days which need at least a 15 gallon tank.
Bettas ideally need a filtered, cycled and heated tank over 5 gallons.
Keeping fish isn’t really about keeping fish at all. It’s about keeping water. Keep the water chemistry healthy and the fish stays healthy. Ignore water chemistry and water maintenance, your fish dies. It’s not really a pet, it’s a chemistry exam!
