Betta Fish Fin Rot Symptoms
Betta Fish Fin Rot Symptoms
What are the symptoms of fin rot ?
My male Betta’s fins look kinda weird. I would like to know if he has fin rot and if he does how can i treat it. He is not with any other fish and never has been. The fins are ripped with a blackish border around the tail. The black border wasn’t there when i got him. What could this be??
He has a filter and a heater. the filter is pretty gentle if it has anything to do with it.
The symptoms of fin-rot are; gradual decay of the fins, often with obviously dead, grey patches on the fins. Left untreated, this will kill your fish. But you need to test your water and get a plastic baggie or a bowl of water and put in it AquaSafe. This is a kind of chemical that changes tap water to water suitable for your fish in about an hour. Do this and drop your fish in it and keep it in there until you get the tank back to normal. The longest it may stay in the bowl or baggy is three days. It sounds like your fish has ammonia poising. So then pour out all of the water in the tank. Take out tank decorations and the filters. Clean out the filters and tank decorations in hot water. Then clean the entire tank. Refill it with new fresh water put in the AquaSafe let it sit over night and make sure everything is working right test your water, and when everything is normal put your fish back in. If you need to know how to transition your fish to the bowl and back to the tank email me. You can’t just drop your fish in any kind of new water. It will go into shock and ide.=( I hope I helped. And I hope your fish gets better!=)
