Betta Fish Feeding Vacation
Betta Fish Feeding Vacation
Gone for a week; fish feeding?!?

I will be gone on vacation for a week. We are hiring someone (a friend actually) to water our flowers, but they are not allowed in the house where my two fish tanks are. One 5 gal holds a betta and a mystery snail, but I’m not too worried about them since I heard that bettas can go up to two weeks without food. In the other 5 gal I have 12 baby teeny tiny snails (That’s their nursery tank I WILL upgrade to probably a 50 gallon. I’ve done my research) and two balloon belly mollies.
Yes, I have a filter. I don’t need a heater just yet because it is 100 degrees outside and 84 in the house, and the water temp is always around 26 – 27 degrees celcius.

My question is, how will I be able to feed my mollies? I am not allowed to buy any more fish supplies this month, so I can’t get a feeder block. What can I do?

Never get a feeder block anyway, they pollute the water no end and may well kill your fish. Next time you buy fishy things, get a vacation feeder on a timer that drops a certain amount into the tank at regular intervals. You can do a dry run first to test them. We had one that worked perfectly during a five-week trip.
I would personally just not worry. They can go for a week without food, although it won’t be as pleasant. Do you have any live plants, like elodea? Your snails will snack happily on that, although your betta and mollies probably won’t be interested.
