Betta Fish Dropsy Tank
Betta Fish Dropsy Tank
I think my betta might have dropsy! help please?

So my betta, whose 2 years old, female has been having a stomach thats growing and growing and today its especially big. no purtruding scales but she is floating on the top next to the side of the tank. I am really worried about her. the color of this stomach, which now looks like she swallowed a marble, is paler than usual.

I have another betta in her 2.5 gallon separated heated tank, and he shows no signs of dropsy.

Should i remove the other betta and treat her in the warm, circulating tank? or should i put her in a side container? What meds should i give? she isnt looking good. ive already had one fish die of dropsy so im on the lookout for it and at first i thought she was just big from eggs but its abnormally big now. Shes still eating.

Help is greatly apprecaited :)

If the scales are not popping out, then it might be bloat. overfeeding can bring this on or too muchrich food. Fast her a few days. you could try to feed her a steamed green pea, skin taken off, afterwards, but my bettas won’t really eat anything veggie. i use daphnia, which is a fishy laxative also but insect based. in fact, i feed it once a week and they love it! Look andmake sure she doesn’t have a white spot under her stomach, if not then its not eggs.
