Betta Fish Constipation
Betta Fish Constipation

Does my betta fish have fin rot?
Okay well my poor little betta Antonio has been very stressed lately. He was pretty sick with constipation for about a week and he seemed to be doing pretty good. However the other day i was looking at him and it looked like he had black spots on the end of his fin as well as scattered throughout the end that weren’t there before. Could this be the beginning stages of fin rot? What medications should i use to help him get better? Please help!
Both symptoms of what your fish have are easy to cure and don’t need meds. It’s better to use less med’s as possible, that way they don’t get immune to them. For constipation you can use a thawed de-shelled pea. Just chop it up and feed it to him. As for fin rot, it’s caused by high ammonia levels. Witch is from lack of water changes and waste build up, or overfeeding. To cure fin rot, just clean out the tank more often and keep him in clean warm water (temp should range around 78-86F), you can add a little bit of aquarium salt to the water as well. Don’t use it as a basic thing, they will eventually become immune to it and it won’t work.
