Betta Fish Compatibility Snails
Betta Fish Compatibility Snails
2.5 gallon aquarium compatibility?
i just purchased a 2.5 gallon tank and a small heater to keep it in between 78 and 82 degrees Fahrenheit. would 1 male betta, 3 ghost shrimp, a snail, and a red clawed crab get along well and safely? is there any other fish i could add? feel free to give other suggestions of completely different combinations.
thanks everyone. actually i do have a filter in it and i don’t have the fish yet, so none will die.
That tank is too small to even hold a Betta comfortably. They need a minimum of three gallons. My rule is to allow one gallon per inch of body, meaning length and width. A Betta gets to about three inches, so a three gallon tank is the minimum size. Return the tank you have and get a five gallon tank. A Betta needs a heater, a filter, silk plants, something to use as a cave, and aquarium gravel. Do twenty-five percent water changes twice weekly with an aquarium vacuum and completely clean the tank once every two months. So you will need for ONE Betta a five gallon tank (you can find a good set for thirty bucks at WalMart that has a tank, filter, hood/light, lightbulb, filter cartridge, and various little samples), a heater, a thermometer, some silk plants (plastic tears their fins), a cave, five to ten pounds of gravel, Betta food, freeze dried bloodworms, replacement filter cartridges, Start Right water conditioner, and a male Betta fish. You can get all this at WalMart. If you do get your fish at WalMart you should get some kinda basic medicine for fish. I would budget in about eighty to a hundred bucks. If you do this your fish will live a long healthy life and will look much better than any fish kept in a two and a half gallon tank.
