Betta Fish Companions Bowl
Betta Fish Companions Bowl

Fish Question–Guppies?
My previous betta died– after 4 years, and I was hoping to get another fish. I heard that Guppies were super easy to take care of, and being livebearers, they were fun to take care of as well. I have a 40 gallon aquarium for them. I had a few questions:
1. What are good companions for guppies?
2. Can I raise the fry in a fish bowl?
3. What do guppies eat?
Any more info, or guppy care sites would be wonderful. Thank you!
1)Non-aggressive community fish are good. Tetra’s or platies would be fine.
2)No, sorry, It is like keeping a fish in a bowl, but the fry are more sensitive and will die.
3)They eat anything you give them. Flakes, pellets, blood worms, or brine shrimp.
I do not feed any of my fish flakes.
They need filters just like any other fish. Heaters because they are tropical. Cycled of course, please do not do a fish in cycle. Fishless only id MUCH nicer: http://www.startafishtank.com/aquarium-setup/fishless-cycling-cycle-your-tank-with-fish-food-or-ammonia/
Water changes need to be done weekly, levels need to be 0 on ammonia and nitrite. Below 40ppm on nitrAte, same with any other fish. Other than that, there is not really anything else.
