I am taking care of a male betta fish for my friend for a while. I am feeding it what she gave me, these teeny-weeny pellets- she said 5-7 two times a day. But when I watch the betta eat (hey, what can I say? I’ve never had fish-it’s fascinating.) It stares at the floating food, attacks, and usually doesn’t grab it and the pellet falls to the floor. I feed it more to compensate for that, since it looks like it eats 1 in every 3 I give it. Am I over-feeding it? Why is it not gulping the food? Anyone have same problem?
On the container it says to feed 2-3 times a day, 4-6 pellets. My friend has had this fish about 2 years and has fed it this way.
How many pellets you should feed will all depend on the size of the food, if it is really tiny (I have seen some very small pellets in the past), about five would be enough, but if they are larger I would go with three. You are being a great friend to follow the instructions so closely, but from my experience a betta will never starve itself. You do not need to worry about compensating for food that falls to the bottom, bettas are not picky they will eat the fallen food . Extra food decomposes in the water and causes ammonia, which is toxic to fish so give the betta about 10 minutes to eat and then use some airline tubing to siphon out any left overs. Individual bettas are the best indicators of how much to feed, when they stop eating they are no longer hungry, and if your friend has had the fish for a couple of years already she probably knows what works best for it. Fluval Fish Tank how many fish in my fluval edge tank?
i have a room temperature fluval edge tank and it has been running for 4 weeks. how many danios could i put in( i no they are tropical but i no they can live in room temperature as i am experienced)?? also what bottom feeder for room temperature? thankyou very much and all answers are appreciated

These things are room decorations rather than fish homes and are too small for any commonly available coldwater fish. Danios are very active and need much larger than 6 gallon tanks.
You could keep a trio of Heterandria formosa or some cherry shrimp – or get a heater and keep a Betta or a pair of small species killifish.

Betta Health Is it safe to give Betta Fish mince as a treat?
My friend gives her Betta Fish tiny bits of mince as a treat once a mouth and they really seem to enjoy it and I was wondering whether or not this is safe to the health of a Betta Fish? I have Betta Fish of my own and the idea of giving them a treat once in awhile sounds nice but is it safe?
Forgot to mention its just normal beef mince.
A small amount is unlikely to harm them.
But fish have problems digesting fat and gristle from warm blooded animals (like cows)
Beef heat is generally better, almost no fat.
Frozen bloodworms, daphnia etc are a better treat. Bits of fish or shrimp are something else you can keep in the freezer and feed as a treat.
