Breeding Discus Fish Tank
can you use filter jug water?

can you use filter jug water or distilled water in my discus tank i tested jug filter water and the ph is 6 which is what i want to breed so is it safe to use either waters as ph lowering chemicals havnt worked i want the best water for my fish thanks ant help grateful

Well that is the more expensive way. It would work wonders for your discus. But cost effective not worth it. I buy the 5 gallon buckets with lids and I fill them with water and I let them sit for acouple of days then there good to use. It may be more cost effective if you do it that way. The ph ends up about 6.0 in about three days. Give it a shot but make sure you keep those buckets for fish use only.

My discus fish is turning black? anyone can help?

I have 2 discus as well as other fish which have all been fine together for 2 months. One of the discus is not eating ,sometimes leans to the side and is turning dark..this started the day before yesterday so I did a water change…he seemed to be ok one minute ,swimming round etc and then the next sitting near bottom of tank looking depressed.

Can someone help??
I meant Can anyone help in my question!

Discus can change colour a bluey black colour if under stress but i think you have a water parameter problem what size tank and what are your water parameters Ammonia and nitrite .
Discus should really be kept in a species only tank and are not for the Beginner to keep the fact you keep other fish with your discus leads me to think that youa re not experienced enough to own discus .
