Betta Fish Velvet Symptoms

My betta fish is sick and no matter where I go, I can’t find what he has?

Oh no! I know my beta fish is sick, but none of his symptoms match up to anything I find on the internet. It seems that he might have several things, and I don’t know what to do.

I’ve been traveling a lot, so I didn’t notice when I came back until yesterday that his tank is dirty. I was going to clean it when I also noticed that my beta, Carlisle, is hyper-active, darting all around his tank, but he’s not scraping up against things in his tank. His fins have one hole near the bottom and are clumped together. He also has a patch of white kind of flaky stuff directly below one of his gills, causing the gill to not close all the way. I’m sure it’s not Ick, because it’s only on one spot of his body.

I’m worried, because I’ve been looking around, and I checked for things like Velvet, and he doesn’t have a sheen. Is it possible that he doesn’t just have one thing, but many? What do I do?

I covered what your dealing with in your prevoious question about this an even recomended treatment the fish has a bacteria infection causeing the clamped fins and a fungus infection the white spot to treat use Maroxy or check for a medication that treats for both a fungus infection and a bacterial infection

Petco Betta Fish Care Sheet

How can I get my new African Dwarf Frog to eat?

I have a one year old African Dwarf Frog and he eats freeze dried blood worms which I feed to him with tweezers :

Yesterday, I got a female Betta and a new baby female African Dwarf Frog (She’s about half the old ones size). The new female ADF (Demi) will not eat anything. Even if I put the worms directly in front of her face. I’ve also tried the gold fish flakes just to fill her up. She just swims away. I really don’t want to have to try to get totally new brand of food, like Reptomin Baby.
I got her from Petco so I printed a Petco aquatic frog care sheet out and it said they sould eat bloodworms :p But it didn’t say HOW to feed them.
Please help!

The frog needs time to settle into it’s new home. It’s been a stressful few days being moved from the supplier to the petstore, then to you. Mine took about a week to settle in and they were then absolutely fine. I also have a Betta, and it took the Betta up to a week to settle properly. It also took a few weeks for them to realise that when I turned on the lights it’s food time. They now come up to have their food before I even get it out because it’s became routine for them. The frogs will not find frozen food as easily as live food. If you get worried in a week or so, buy some live food and they will see the food moving. Try to get into the habit of feeding frozen food in the same place and the frogs will soon get used to their feeding place.

Good luck x

Betta Fish Water Heater
Betta Fish Water Heater
My husband got a new betta fish without a heater – the temp is about 65?

The fish seems fine but I read that the water temp needs to be at least 76 – should we get a heater? He doesn’t eat that much – is this why?
He’s pretty active but sometimes sleeps at the bottom.

65?? Definitely get a heater, no question.
