Betta Fish Life Cycle
Betta Fish Life Cycle

Stocking 10 gallon betta tank?
So my tank is fully Cycled and I have 1 Betta (Turbo) – Rescued from Petsmart and almost completely healed from his Fit Rot. Now I want to add some bottom Dwellers to give the tank some more life, not that my Betta’s boring, but I would like one other species in my little aquarium. Now I was thinking either Cory’s or Oto’s now I was leaning towards Cory’s but there are no Dwarf kinds in my area. So would a normal Peppered Cory school be okay in this 10 gallon? Or would they be to much? Oto’s seemed really fun, and I would defiantly be up for getting some of them (maybe 3?) I heard their not schooling fish, but they like to be in a small group? Would the Oto’s be okay in the Tropical Betta environment? Thanks for the advice!
Oh also, my tank has Silk plants, Not real. Unfortunately I just havn’t had the time to really take the time to set up a nice planted tank yet. Possibly in the future. But not at this moment, will the upset the Oto’s? – I heard like like planted tanks.
Cory cats need groups of 4-7 and I don’t know if the Betta will harass them or not.
It’s risky.
Not sure on Oto’s either , but I’m saying this without a Betta in the tank , you could get 2-3.
EDIT::
If you don’t know much about planted tanks , then just put a couple “Java Fern” in your tank. They don’t need fertilizer , unless you want them to grow like crazy. They are very easy , and slow growing plants. I have some of my own and are very nice in your tank. Get a couple and make a bush in the middle of your tank. You can also get “Java Moss” to put along the sides of the tank. Not much work in those either unless you want them to grow rapidly and put ferts in there. If you don’t they will grow slow but you may have to clip the Java Fern once a month , it will give the Oto’s great hiding spots from the Betta. I’d go with the Oto’s because Cory Cat’s (some species) are sensitive.
