What’s the best place to get my betta from?

I can go to Walmart, Petco, or Petsmart. The fish at Petco look the healthiest and better taken care of than the fish at the other places. Or should I order it online and have it shipped to me? What are some betta breeders that are willing to ship in the US?

Shipping is rather expensive; you’d be paying for the fish… plus $35 shipping. Honestly, I wouldn’t do it this way.

If you don’t have a breeder or a fish store near you, PetCo would probably be best if the Betta there look healthy. Find out when your pet stores get new Betta fish in stock and come on the first day or two they are at the store. That way, you’re more likely to get a healthy fish.

Petsmart and PetCo are my only options as well, and I’ve always bought from PetCo. My local Petsmart has sickly looking Betta fish even when they are first put on the shelves. And Walmart… I’d never buy a fish from Walmart.

I want to breed bettas – what do you do with them? I will probably keep some but can I sell the rest? Do you sell online or go to local petstores? the fish stores by me seem to already have a ton…

I sell mine mostly to local pet stores but some online as well. The big chains like petsmart won’t buy them unless you have a business license and jump though hoops but small pet stores will. If you have a particularly good line of fish you can get good money for them online.
