Female betta fish helping?
Okay so I’ve read EVERYWHERE that the female betta will in fact eat her eggs.
She’s not eating them.
She’s actually putting them in the bubble nest along with the male.
I thought she was eating them at first until I saw her go to the top and let them all out into the nest.
So, should I leave her in when shes completely done with laying eggs or what?
Not unusual! .. I’ve seen females often do that. And the ONLY time I’ve seen a female eat any eggs, is when the male is slower recovering from their “ecstatic embrace” & she picks up a few eggs before he pushes her away & picks them up to put into the nest.
But you’ll very likely have far more fry than you can handle, so loss of a couple of eggs won’t matter much..
Get your infusoria culture ready to feed the fry as soon as they are free swimming, keep the temperature in the high 70′s and if you want to grow them well, about a week after they’ve been free swimming, start them on newly hatched baby brine shrimp..
